About the event

On February 5, 2025, a fire was detected at 15:30 by project patrol members during monitoring near the REDD+ Selva de Urundel Project.

It originated from uncontrolled burning of dry weeds by the owner of a neighboring farm.

The project team activated the combat protocol, requesting assistance from Colonia Santa Rosa firefighters.

The fire was contained, preventing its spread to the project area and reducing leakage and degradation in surrounding areas.

Night monitoring of the fire area was conducted to detect active hotspots and enable early response if necessary.

The area was found extinguished, with no risk of fire spreading to the project area or neighboring zones.

The fire was successfully controlled thanks to the Selva de Urundel Project, which continuously supports the volunteer firefighters of Colonia Santa Rosa and ensures early fire detection.

¡Thanks to the project team’s efforts, we are reducing fire degradation in the region!
